SC wants special courts to deal with politicians
The Supreme Court has advocated creation of special courts to exclusively deal with criminal cases relating to politicians, in the “interest of the nation”. THE Supreme Court directed the Centre to place before it a scheme in this regard, and asked the government about the 1,581 cases involving MPs and MLAs, and details on how many of them had been disposed of within one year as per its directions in 2014.
It sought details of the number of cases that ended in conviction and acquittal, and criminal cases lodged against politicians from 2014.
