Stricter rules for NGOs receiving foreign funds
The government has revised the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2011 to make rules stricter for foreign funded NGOs, requiring all entities seeking registration or prior permission under FCRA to be in existence for three years, and for them to have spent at least Rs. 15 lakh on core activities for the benefit of society during the last three fiscals. A sub-rule re-defines which are to be deemed of ‘political nature’, debarred from foreign funds.
